We originated and produced Mike Huckabee's Reagan, Thatcher, Pope John Paul II Tour with Evangelical leaders from IA, NH, SC & NV in November 2014. The trip was one of the highlights of a lifetime.
We began in Krakow, Poland where Cardinal Karol Wojtyla began his march toward Rome and became Pope John Paul II. Krakow is lovely. Schindler's Factory is located in Krakow, and Auschwitz-Birkenau near by.
After a few days in Krakow we jumped to London, and the Churchill War Room for dinner with guest speaker Jonathan Aitken.
Aitken is a former Conservative Member of Parliament in the United Kingdom (1974–97), and a former Cabinet minister. He "had one of the most high profile and colorful careers in British public life. His career has spanned the worlds of books, newspapers, television, business, politics, theology, charitable service, prison reform, and offender rehabilitation." jonathanaitken.org
Aitken in a sense is the Chuck Colson on England. He was convicted of perjury in 1999 and received an 18-months prison sentence, of which he served seven months and found Christ; actually Christ found him. Aitken has written several biographies of political figures over the years, including:
• President of the United States Richard Nixon (Nixon: A Life, 1996), and Nixon's co-conspirator in the Watergate scandal
• Charles Colson (Charles W. Colson: A Life Redeemed, 2005). Colson had assisted Aitken in his biography of Nixon, and had later corresponded with Aitken urging him to repent in the wake of the Guardian libel case.
• President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev (Nazarbayev and the Making of Kazakhstan: From Communism to Capitalism)
• Margaret Thatcher, Margaret Thatcher: Power and Personality, after her death in 2013
